Earthwear

Earthwear is a 2019-2020 art commission by the Boulder Office of Arts and Culture to foster more community arts and partnership building. I designed Earthwear as a collaborative public art project with people experiencing homelessness. With the onset of COVID-19, I adapted the project to remote workshops and partnered with Motherhouse, a shelter for new mothers. I also worked with families and provided art workshops.

Like yarnbombing, community members wove together material to go around tree trunks. Rather than use yarn, participants used colored shopping bags and recycled materials. This project demonstrated how we can upcycle our waste into art.
