Earthwear was a community arts project (Boulder, 2019-2020) with mothers experiencing temporary homelessness and families confined indoors during the COVID lockdown. Angie organized remote workshops with children and Motherhouse, a shelter for new mothers. Community members weaved and sewed upcycled material into large wraps that went around tree trunks. Conceived prior to COVID lockdown, this project proved to be even more important to bring people together in a time of crisis. As one mother said, ‘It was quite relaxing and therapeutic to do this project during COVID lockdown.’

This project was made possible by a Boulder Arts Commission grant, Boulder County, City of Boulder, Sparkfun Electronics, Green Girl Recycling, Motherhouse, and the 100 volunteers who participated in this project.
