Somewhere

old wooden ladder, mirrors, video, monitor

Somewhere is a video sculpture about transition and rapid existence in the machine age. An old wooden ladder, a monitor screening a speeding road and mirrored steps reflect a video loop of a street shot backwards depict the arch of time.  Two directions: acceleration away from and toward are the states of a contemporary mind.

“To go nowhere, even to ride around in a deserted quarter or on a crowded freeway, now seems natural for the voyeur, voyager in his car. On the contrary, to stop, to park, are unpleasant operations and the driver even resents going somewhere or toward someone.”-Paul Virilio
