installation art

Although Eng concentrates on video as a performative medium or single channel works, she also creates conceptual installations that include video, photography, sculpture and/or sound.  Eng’s first solo show (Artists’ Space, 1996)  was an installation entitled, “Safety Belt”.  This installation used video, projection, sound, motion capturing and objects.  In other site specific installations, such as “Passway” 1998 and “Drive In” 1998,  Eng is interested in displacement. Given the occasion she responds to her environment by such projects as the photo installation, “Euros per Minute” 2007 that addresses the commodification of  public space.
